約束の七夜祭り (Yakusoku no Nanayamatsuri) is yet another awe-inspiring Japanese animated stir picture that opened in theatres on August 18, 2018. Within the plot of this film directed by Yusuke Hirota, the history and future, craving and fellowship, all that seems tortuously fine is following life without keeping any futurity regards to time. The story revolves around Toma, a youthful boy who once returns to the major birthplace to revive several times. But he inevitably becomes involved in a series of mysterious events within close proximity of the summer jubilee. There's magic and ways of old societies; indeed, the jubilee is central to joining the history and present of Toma in the film.
The vitality is substantially one of the greatest means this film has. Vibrant scenes of the jubilee, with thousands of lanterns hanging from strings and raining fireworks, fill the air with nostalgia. All the characters are beautifully drawn and designed for personality, making their paths relatable and heart-warming. Pacing feels a bit slow at times, but worth the delay for the emotional lucre and deeper communication on cherishing pledges and recollections.
